Vivaldi Upright Piano in Black Porcelain Limoges Box

A gleaming black upright piano bears the name Vivaldi, a nod to the Venetian composer of The Four Seasons. This hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, made in Limoges, France, captures the instrument that anchors so many family parlors.

Four Seasons in Black

The upright piano has filled homes with music for generations, and the black finish here gives it a formal, concert hall feel. Keys and case are painted by hand, so the shine and fine lines carry a personal touch from the painter.

Recital Night Honors

• A gift for a student after a first recital
• A heartfelt thank-you for a longtime piano teacher
• A fine present for a church organist or choir director

Set Atop the Real Thing

Many owners place it right on top of their own piano, next to a metronome and a stack of sheet music. It also suits a music room shelf alongside violin, Victrola and harp pieces, or a desk in a conservatory office. This is hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France, and it speaks to anyone who has spent hours practicing scales.
