Barnyard Pig Resting on Straw Limoges Box

A contented pig lies on a soft bed of straw, enjoying a well earned rest in the barnyard. It is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box made in Limoges, France, with the straw forming the base and the pig resting on top.

Siesta in the Straw

There is something wonderfully relaxed about a pig settled into fresh straw on a warm afternoon. This piece captures that easy contentment, the kind of scene you might find peeking over a fence at a country farm.

Hogs and Kisses

Pig collectors are a devoted bunch, and many have a shelf dedicated to porcine friends in every pose. This resting pig is a calm, sweet addition to that herd. It also makes a fun present for a farmer, a 4-H champion or a friend who has just moved to the country. Set it on a kitchen windowsill, a farmhouse shelf or a curio cabinet with other farm animals.

The rolling farmland around Limoges, in central France, has long been home to livestock and country life, so a barnyard subject like this feels right at home in Limoges porcelain.
